How Exercises Can Affect Your Quality of Life

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 17 , 2017

Many times, I have clients asking why they must do exercise “X” and why can’t they skip that one because they don’t like it.  As a fitness professional, I can assure you that most people don’t like an exercise because they can’t do it and need to work on it. Once they have it down, then it’s not so bad.

In fact, there are many exercises that can affect a person’s quality of life. These are typically the exercises that most people will often say they don’t like, but not being able to properly do these exercises can negatively affect your quality of life.

Below are some exercises that can affect your ability to live life to your fullest.

Squat: to be able to sit down in a chair and get back up, get in and out of your car safely, or even being able to go to the bathroom

Deadlift: to be able to safely pick something off the ground, like your child

Get Up & Downs or Turkish Get Up: to be able to get down on the floor, to play with your grandchildren or dog, and can get back up off the floor

Lunge: to be able to bend over and tie your shoe

Anterior Reach: to be able to put your underwear or pants on while standing up

Balancing: to be able to walk on an uneven surface or put a sock on while standing up

Shoulder Press: to be able to reach up and get something out of the kitchen cabinet, wash or brush your hair

Step Ups: to be able to get up and down the stairs in your house or out in public

Row: to be able to stand up with good posture, so you can more easily breathe and lessen back and neck pain
